USHog Parts & Accessories

Avid Harley-Davidson motorcyclists don’t only polish their bikes shiny but they also need to don clothes and gear that would suit them wherever their bikes lead them. Therefore, seeing the dilemma of their clients, Harley-Davidson makers thought of creating a clothing line of the same brand to fulfill their client’s needs. And soon a plethora of Harley-Davidson apparels boomed.

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

Joseph asks…

What are some good places around Oklahoma City to buy motorcycle apparel ?

I’m buying a Harley Dyna Wide Glide in a few months and I’m looking for places to buy gear. The only ones I know of is Cycle Gear and the Harley-Davidson store

ushogbob answers:

A Harley-Davidson store is probably the most expensive place you could ever find to buy clothing and riding gear. Unless you really want to pay triple the price for something, just because it has a Harley emblem on it, you should avoid it at all costs.

Almost ANY motorcycle shop in your local area will sell helmets, jackets and accessories, and I would recommend you buy your helmet from a local store to be sure you get one that fits properly.

For other gear, I have found this web site to be one of the best as far as price and selection…

I prefer the top one with the hood personaly, look at some of his other jackets and see if he seems to prefer hooded jackts or not.

James asks…

What is the best way to clean Harley Davidson branded clothing?

I recently bought the Spring line of HD branded merchandise for my summer riding. Like most contemporary HD riders, I have a maid to wash my clothing and don’t wash anything myself. However, considering the top quality of HD branded apparel, I am a bit leary of having a non-professional wash my HD branded clothing. Obviously, I want to look my best when I ride on the weekends.

What is the best practice for cleaning HD branded clothing? Do you just have everything drycleaned? Or is there a professional cleaning service you use? I am cringing at the thought of having dish pan hands when throttling my new Sportster this weekend!

What do you think?

Thx I will also choose best answer but not for anyone who asks for it.

ushogbob answers:

Wow haha well it depends which ones you like the clothes at. If you find the clothes cute wear them. Most people don’t care what your wearing, although I do understand there are certain places that do. In that case, just wear any pricey designer brands! Haha.

My favoirte stores are Abercrombie, Zumiez, and Hollister for clothes not TOO pricey and stuff…

But like Guess, and Juicy Couture seem kind of popular at the moment. I’ve been seeing them everywhere. And Chanel…

Carol asks…

Where can I find this vintage harley davidson shirt?

It’s the one Jessica SImpson wore in her video These Boots Are Made For Walking. I think it’s an older one, maybe from the 70s-80s. I don’t know though, I am not that familiar with HD apparel. Here are some of the pictures: http://www.jessicasimpson.fsnet.co.uk/these-boots-are-made-for-walking01.jpg

I’m aware the shirt is cut off, but I really need some help finding it. Any ideas? I’ve been lookiong for the past 3 hours and I’m desperate.

ushogbob answers:

Try searching the harley stores, i am sure the shirt was purchased close to the movie being made. You should be able to purchase on their or on e-bay. Try www.rockys_harley.com/low.html they are supposed to be the home for the jessica simpson shirt. In their gallery they have pics of some girls with the shirt on, they had a look a like contest. Check it out and maybe u can e-mail them for more info. Good luck

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

Joseph asks…

Motorcycles: Harley Davidson Question, 1990 Sportster 1200?

Ok, I wrote an introduction to this quesiton that was longer than some books, so I just started over because otherwise I’d never get any answers ’cause the intro was longer than the freaking question itself. I’ll try to keep it “to the point”, but I have always had trouble with that. I ramble. I’m a rambler and I rant. I’m a ranter, putting in millions of details that have nothing to due with the topic. OK – my dad buys his second motorcycle as he is wanting to get into riding. I have been riding every year weather permitting for 13 year and I know my way around a bike pretty good. I have never owned a harley davidson, only Yamaha’s and kawasaki’s. The first bike my dad bought was a Kawasaki. He’s been taking riding lessons from me for free, and he also signed up for a course at our local community college that is taught by guys who’ve been riding for centuries, and they’ll teach him things that even I don’t know. So one day we are driving and there’s a sparkling clean sportster (1200 XLH) sitting on the side of the road (“for sale sign clearly visible”). I call the number and offer the guy $3000 as it’s a 1990 and has 15,000 miles on it, although the bike is FLAWLESS and loaded with aftermarket shiny things, although all moving parts are stock. He accepts. I tell him that it’s actually my dad who is interested and I’ll have him call back later. He does, and sets up a test ride (to be performed by me) the next day. We go, I ride (I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear a helmet), but I didn’t on this test ride because I had to be able to hear EVERYTHING IN THE ENGINE, ETC. So I ride for about 10 minutes and the bike is in such incredible condition I just can’t believe it. I report back and dad agrees to buy it on the spot. The next day he pays the guy and get’s the temp tag and insures it. Tonight I went down and picked it up. While we were in the guys large and spotless garage, fully equipped with about 10 motorcycles, 3 cars, and 4 toolbenches, I didn’t see the expected accompanyment of tool kits. So I figure he outsources his maintainence. Ok. I turn the fuel switch to “on” from “off”, and all of a sudden the bike is literally purging the entire tank of gas out of what appears to be a 1/4 inch rubber hose that someone had threaded between those iconic thin metal bars that run vertically from the crankcase up each side of the cylinders. The hose STARTS at the bottom of the air filter, although I don’t thing it has anything to do with it and runs up direcly to the “OFF/ON/RESERVE” switch. So I quickly switch it off, and it stops leaking. The seller is horrified because he’s already been paid and we haven’t even taken possession yet, 2. The bike didn’t do this when I rode it the day before, and 3. his dog bit my dad in the ass when he went over to pay him (and my dad is a lawyer, “bad combination of events”). So we spend 40 minutes trying to figure out first of all what the hell that hose is anyway…. Why is it now leaking fuel copiously, and was it originally connected to something else? did it become disconnected? Next I decide “ok, let’s take it just outside of the garage, fire it up with the switch on “off”, then turn it “on”, which we did, and it still pissed fuel all over the ground. By this time I’d removed it from it’s previous position up against the base of the outside of the lower part of the block (too hot for rubber hose, obviously), and I’d zip-tied it so it wouldn’t touch the exhaust either. Ok, WTF!!!!???? So, in a last ditch attempt to just GET IT HOME, I decided to clamp it off. Between the 2 of us we decided to use a paper clamp (not clip, CLAMP), those black things with the little silver handles to open and close them that can be used to pinch other people for fun at the office. We also screwed a screw of slightly larger diameter than the inside of the hose into the end of it, and…… drumroll… IT STILL LEAKED, SOMEHOW, but to a lesser degree. He followed me home and the performance of the bike was severely compromised. I had to keep it revved at stop signs and it felt like it was missing on one of the cylinders occasionally. SO: WHAT IS THIS HOSE, WHAT IS IT’S PURPOSE, AND WHAT’S IT SUPPOSED TO DO? IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE HOOKED TO SOMETHING? IF SO, WHAT? PLEASE. I WILL RECANT ALL MY YEARS OF RIDING JAP BIKES IF SOMEONE WILL PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. Otherwise, I’m going to have to pay someone to do it and they might die of laughter from how stupid I am that I couldn’t figure it out on my own. This bike is beautiful and I’m really hoping that it doesn’t reinforce the rumor that Harley‘s are hanger queens (which is the only reason I hadn’t bought one myself prior to this bike). I know that there is someone out there who can answer this in the blink of an eye. Also the oil/filter and plugs haven’t been changed in friggin’ trillions of years so I’m going to do that as soon as I can get the right plugs for it. I bought a case of 4 cycle bike oil about 3 years ago and I still haven’t
used it all, so this oil change should finish it off. That maintainence I can do myself, but if I end up having to take the bike to my mechanic to have this hose thing figured out, I’ll just have them change the plugs/oil/filter. Well, that about does it. If I remember anything else I’ll post an update. Thank you all in advance for your help. I’m sorry I’m such a dumb-ass but this is my first Harley and I’m still basically a Harley virgin so I haven’t found the g-spot on them yet. Thx, john in Iowa

ushogbob answers:

The hose is the carb overflow drain. Being 19 years old with only 15000 miles I’m sure the bike sat parked a lot. Gas usually dumps out the overflow tube because of a stuck carb float. Probably because some old gas dried up in the bowl. It’s a very simple fix, Turn the petcock to off. Take the fuel hose off the carb and run it into a bucket or gas can. Turn the petcock to reserve and totally drain the tank. Remove the float bowl and clean it with some carb cleaner, also the float and linkage. Re assemble and put in fresh gas. That oil you say you have, what weight is it? The Sportster needs 20/50. Also you need to change the primary and transmission oil. Get yourself a factory manual. This is the only item you should ever purchase from a Harley dealer. For anything else find a good independant shop.

Nancy asks…

Has anyone else traded in a Sportster right before Harley announced the current promo?

I had heard down the line about the HD promo for MSRP or close to when you trade in your Sportster towards the purchase of a larger Harley. I came in made a deal and traded my bike 10 days before the promo was made official. I rode it home and trucked it back a couple days later where it sat at the dealer waiting on parts/work to be done and was not avail until 12-26 the day the promo was made official. According to this promo if they honored it they would have shorted me $3700. I am hearing of people who are in the same predicament as me and have received compensation. I’ve tried talking to my dealer (who is a participating dealer in the promo) and am waiting a call back from them and the regional sales rep as well. Anyone else going through this or get reimbursed in any way???

I’m hearing from people I’m asking in the biker community that some people have gotten cash back (hardly any) or even store credit. So far I am being offered 20% off parts and service on anything and even discounts towards the purchase of another bike. If you are going through this let me know what you got offered or if you got reimbursed let me know how you did it (who you talked to and what it took). Harley (corporate) is off until the 5th of Jan so I got to wait until then before I get to talk to someone in corporate.

Here’s the link to the promo

http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/2008_Campaigns/ride_free/rideFreeCurrent.jsp?locale=en_US

Can people only respond that can offer info that would be helpful. The first guy right off the bat is a tard that just likes complaining. All I’m tryin to find out is if there’s any options for me, don’t need my question/thread being highjacked into a thread about the economy.

Look it’s not just rumors people are being taken care of by Harley (what the dealers are doing varies) because they are loyal and this is my 3rd Harley I just want to make sure they’ll look out for me and take care of me and in return earn my future business.

And as for the first tard plenty of companies offer a guarantee on pricing and if there is any promo offered after a purchase is made they’ll honor that promo on your already done deal. Harley as a company has already made that clear by starting to take care of some of the people in my predicament.

ushogbob answers:

Bart, you got so many thumb downs because of the statements pessimistic nature. Everyone……….including bikers, wants the economy to flourish. Most analysts have called for economic progression (not regression) by June of 09. I am looking forward to a better year in 09, and if consumers show a degree of confidence in the US economy, the world economy may even grow. Consumer confidence is the biggest problem driving the decline in lending and spending now. Even people that can afford to spend or borrow aren’t making any moves to speak of because of the gloom and doom of people that don’t understand the ramifications of their actions. People that can afford to spend right now NEED to spend to help the economy. Real estate is a good starting place because the prices of housing are down from 15-25% depending on the area. Speculators drove everything into a delirium and have done the damage and left the markets or have been driven out by the recession. Now is the time to spend in a logical market. Every dollar returned to the economy helps make the world and US economy. The 800 billion dollar bailout didn’t mean the government has that money. The Federal Reserve is only so much worth. More money has to be PRINTED to make funds available (so to speak) which weakens the dollar and in turn affects the global economy. What does this have to do with buying a Harley? Absolutely nothing! Just let people spend without giving them a big cheap ration of s***. They work for their money and spend on things they enjoy.

Happy New Year!!!!

Carol asks…

Prove your knowledge about Harley trivia?

To all you walking/talking encyclopedias of worthless trivia, let’s see who gets this one.

In 1977, Harley-Davidson produced what politically incorrect model that had become one of its most controversial?

More clues:
They wore metallic gray paint (DuPont Imron 44437 Ice Blue Metallic), decals (H-D part no. 61651-77 and 61650-77) on the tank, while the front fender sported decal (H-D part no. 59100-77).
They were built across the model range in irregular numbers including 44 FLH Electra Glides, 228 Super Glides (all FXEs with the 3.5-gallon “bread loaf” tank borrowed from H-D’s Italian Aermacchi cousins), 299 XLH Sportsters, 45 XLCH Sportsters and 15 XLT Sportsters.
They were produced in one batch only, and forgotten almost immediately.
In 12 years of researching the model, Steve Edmondson (Edmonson.com) has been unable to locate a single review or magazine ad.
While it’s been suggested Harley-Davidson pulled it for political reasons, poor sales were probably the true motivation.
With just 631 produced, it was clearly a limited production, yet how is it that only 23 models are accounted for today? It’s very likely that dealerships changed the sheet metal to more broadly acceptable motifs to better move product, and/or that owners changed the paint in light of a changing political climate. It’s also possible that Harley-Davidson itself bought up surviving examples to get them off the market.
The real reason this model is so unknown — never appearing in a single official Harley history, and Harley-Davidson refused to even acknowledge its existence until just recently.
As it is, they’re simply a casualty of war, a forgotten foot soldier in Harley’s mid-1970s bid to re-engage the market it almost lost, and a model The Motor Company would apparently just as soon forget.

I’ll be back Friday or Saturday afternoon with the answer.
Let’s see who REALLY knows thier Harley trivia!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting so many correct answers!
Unfortunetly, YA’s only allows me to award to tthe points to one, so I gotta go with the first to post the right answer.
Way ta go, Buster Brown.

And to the putz that said he didn’t know, and just spewed his bias (what comes out the south end of a north bound bull), the article stated that even though it sold new for $3,127 in 1977, it’s value now is $8,000-$20,000.
Somehow I doubt you rice paddy refugee is ever gonna hit those numbers.

ushogbob answers:

100% scam.

There is NO 2004 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic FLHTCUI,

There are stolen pictures of someone else’s 2004 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic FLHTCUI.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money by using several fake names, several free email address, fake story, stolen pictures and a personal bank account that may or may not belong to him.

The next email was from one of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “Trenell Breen of Yahoo Finance” and has demanded you pay for “shipping costs”, in cash, and only by bank transfer.

Your bank can only get your money back if there is money left in the scammer’s bank account. Scammers know this and will immediately withdrawal the money you transferred. No money in the account means absolutely no possibility of you getting your hard-earned cash back.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of cheap vehicles, great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

If you google “fake car bike boat shipping scam”, “western union shipping fraud”, “fake Yahoo Finance email” or something similar you will find hundreds of posts of victims and near victims of this type of scam.

Check out the one and only real Yahoo Finance website and read up on what they really do, how they do it and what they do NOT do.

Donald asks…

does yahoo deals with value transactions when buying a bike? please read the add below that was email to me tx

The bike it’s just how I bought it, one year ago, garage keept most of the time. I don’t know what has been done to the bike. Anyway they did a great job because everything works and looks great. The bike’s condition right now it’s 100% the one in the pictures.I’m sending you all the pictures I have.2003 Harley Davidson 100 Anniversary Softail Standard, No Loan or lien, clear title, Mileage: 4,670 miles, Engine size: 1450 cc Type: Standard 88ci motor (silver) completely chromed out w/ HD OE parts. This bike is in pristine condition. If you like the bike, I can explain how Yahoo! Finance works. Here are the transaction steps: Buyer and Seller Agree to Terms, Both parties agree to terms of the transaction, which includes a description of the merchandise, sale price, number of days for the Buyer’s inspection ( 3 days ).
Buyer Pays:The Buyer submits a payment proof. Yahoo! Finance verifies the payment.
Seller Ships Merchandise Upon payment verification, the Seller is authorized to ship merchandise and submit tracking information. Yahoo! Finance verifies that the Buyer receives the shipment.
Buyer Accepts the Merchandise The Buyer has a set number of days for an inspection and the option to accept or reject the merchandise. (in this case 3 days)
Yahoo! Finance Pays the Seller
If this is ok with you please reply with your complete name, address and shipping address in your next email and let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about this purchase so that I can open a transaction case at Yahoo! Finance and move forward with this deal. You will also need to make a free Yahoo! e-mail account in order to receive the invoice.
Thank you,
Michael
PS: I can ship you the bike for $550, the bike will be delivered in 4 days, you’ll pay the shipping fees when you’ll get the bike.

ushogbob answers:

This is a scam. Yahoo! Finance does not get involved on transactions such as this.

Also, another clue to the scam is the “I’ll ship you the bike, you have 4 days to inspect” part. Common on scams like this.

Run, far away from it. I know you want to believe it, and I’m sure the price is too good to be true, but it’s a scam. You WILL lose your money.

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

George asks…

Where can I find a particular style of Women’s Harley Davidson boots?

I saw an add for a pair of Harley Davidson boots that I wanted to purchase but lost the add. They are a womens boot ankle high or a little taller black leather with a metal stilletto heel. Does anyone know the style name or where I could find them as I have tried an internet search with little luck.

ushogbob answers:

The Battlefield Harley Davidson Shop in Gettysburg, PA has a big selection of styles. I visited up there on a trip just last week and was impressed that they have such a large women’s section. Why not give them a call and describe what you’re looking for?

(717)337-9005 or toll-free 877-595-9005

Paul asks…

Are Harley Davidson boots true to size?

I wear an 8 1/2 in womens regular shoes and I can finally afford the harley boots that I want….do they run big or small or are they true to regular sizing?

ushogbob answers:

I bought a pair on eBay, and I thought the size was OK, but they were made funny. I have a rather wide foot, and I could not get my foot into them. My daughter, and my daughter-in-law, both wear the same size I do, except my daughter-in-law has a very narrow foot. Neither of them could get the boot on their foot either. It was a slip-on with a zipper, not ties. I would definitely recommend not buying them on line, but try them on in the store first. I thought I was saving a lot of money, but actually ended up with a very costly pair of boots that nobody can wear.

Maria asks…

Where can I find reasonably priced Harley Davidson boots for men in or near Los Angeles?

I can’t do online orders because I’d need them by Christmas. . .

ushogbob answers:

There this flea market in melrose thats floooooooded with them. Idk if you would buy them used/vintage though but they are reasonably priced, hard to find, and you can examine how worn or if there are any flaws

Mandy asks…

Where can u buy harley davidson boots cheap in brisbane?

I am looking for US11 mens size but dont want to pay over $200 for them

ushogbob answers:

Try ebay. There’s a store called Grapevinehill that ships worldwide

Mary asks…

what can motorbikes be used for in a company?

Im looking for even the rarest suggestions. Please add to this list as i hope it is ongoing.

ushogbob answers:

Deliveries can be made with motorcycles. Like Pizza Delivery. Or it can be used to show off to other people. Any marketing advice can be useful!!

Lizzie asks…

Should motorbikes be exempt from speed limits?

They never seem to be “limited” on the roadds where I live.
Whilst some riders do stick to the limits I get rather nervous when they are behind me.
I always expect strange behavior from them & they rarely let me down.

ushogbob answers:

Yes. We need more organ donors.

Jenny asks…

Do you think that motorbikes are dangerous?

Are they far more dangerous than cars? If you wear protective clothing and ride safely, aren’t motorbikes are more maneuverable than cars? Are they really as bad a the reputation they are given?

ushogbob answers:

Car and motorbikes both of them do have some benefits and drawbacks.
The car is expensive to maintain, motorbikes are cheaper.
The car is good for some purposes, but when the question of pace comes, the motorbikes win, motorbikes don’t get much influence of traffic as they are more portable in size and can travel through small passing too.
But when the question of security and safety comes there, the car will always be a better choice. Motorbikes can easily be stolen too.
The car is a better choice for safety too. I have seen many deadly, many deadly accidents on motorbikes. They are dangerous and can take lives. My elder brother’s friend was dead by an accident, he was on his bike, a truck crashed him, he was wearing a helmet but his skull was let open. He died within 2 hours after the accident in the hospital, he was kept in ventilation, hoping that his heart may start beating again. But when the machines were removed he lost his life.
My father is against motorbikes for the very start, he always forbid me for keeping a vehicle like motorbike. I suppose the reason behind that is the great danger. He is more experienced too.

Lisa asks…

When Motorbikes are drafting behind each other are they being pulled along by the bike infront?

I know they draft or slipstream behind each other because there is less wind resistance behind the bike infront.
Is the air being pushed forward by the bike infront so the bike behind is being pulled along by the air or is the bike infront acting like a wind block for the bike behind?

ushogbob answers:

Its simply that the bike in front leaves a big hole in the air, so the one behind has less air resistance to push against, temporarily giving a boost of 1 or 2 BHP …

Mandy asks…

What accessories and little bits and pieces for motorbikes are good presents.?

My husband has had his bike for about 6 months and I’d like to get him any useful little kits or accessories for christmas.

ushogbob answers:

Take a look at the Aerostich online catalog:

http://www.aerostich.com/

Mini tool kits, multi-tools, lights, GPS receivers, little pouches, bags and boxes for sorting gear, luggage, boots, gloves, all kinds of stuff. One of the coolest is a little set of aqueegees that fit over the thumb of the riding glove, for wiping rain off your goggles. A set of elk skin riding gloves would be very well received.

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

Linda asks…

Why are most people who ride motorcycles short?

More study needs to be done on this. The short people to Motorcycle ratio is staggering. Most of the people riding are under 5’5” for some reason.

ushogbob answers:

HMM… Selective attention? Do you see what you want to see and not notice the rest? I believe it’s called “Demand characteristics” Which begs the question…why are you so interested in us shorties?

Carol asks…

I’ll be a 1st time rider. Are there motorcycles for short people? I’m 5′.?

My friend who’s about the same height is thinking about getting a Vespa(scooter).
They don’t look that fast, but she told me they can be…
I like the way motorcycles look. Of course I’d have to buy good safety gear. Do people who ride Vespas wear full gear?
Any thoughts?

ushogbob answers:

Any motorized bike be it cycle or bike you need to wear protective gear. That type of transportation is dangerous. It is not if an accident occurs, but when it occurs. You need to protect yourself so you have at least a small chance of living afterwards.

There basically three types: Scooters, Motorbikes, and Motorcycles.

Scooters go the slowest and are used by many just to get from point a to b.

Motorbikes are faster, but they have small engines that allow them so much speed. Larger engines on them can produce some very high speeds. Motorbikes are used more for riding across rough ground, racing, or because they cost less than a full motorcycle.

Motorcycles are powerful and heavy. They can easily carry two people and can even pull a small trailer or sidecar. They are for use on the road travel. They can get you anywhere that is from point a to be. They are very expensive and often are decorated in uniques styles that represents the rider/owners personallity.

There are smaller motorbikes for little people including children.

Motorcycles usually come in big and bigger! With the weight of them it would make it difficult for little person to handle them.

Motorscooters are better for small to average size people because you sit differently on them (feet on floor below you) and go at a slower speed.

Any of these can be dangerious because they do not protect you when a car or truck slams into you. A car for example has metal around you to help cushion the blow.

Steven asks…

What is the best motorcycle for short people (like 5″3′ and under)?

I am looking to save money on fuel and may not be using it on the highway. I want something comfortable and fuel efficient. So a compact model (NOT a minibike) would be ideal.

ushogbob answers:

Buell Blast – top speed 95, MPG 70 – built for beginners and lives up to its name!

Sharon asks…

What sport motorcycle is suitable for short people?

I just finished a Motorcycle Training Program a couple of weeks ago and it seemed that I want a better bike than the BUELL BLAST they provided me. I’m only 5″3 -5″4 (IDK) and 16 years old, so I would prefer a fast bike but not that fast so that I can’t abuse it…..

ushogbob answers:

I was in the same spot as you are in now (and same height). I’ve done the research and been to the ends of the world. Unfortunately there are only 2 bikes (unmodified and used) that we can acquire for our specific needs. A Ducati 749 and a Kawaskai ZZR 600 2004 below that fits us. I got the ZZR by chance and it really means alot to be able to put both feet on the ground. If u got the bucks, i’d go for honda 600 cbr (32.3 in) lower it (by 1~1.5 inches). You can’t lose, light weight and height… A dream come true. But the insurance will kill you, well at least not the bike. Hope I helped. Take Care…

Richard asks…

What Sport Bike is suitable for short people?

I have a car, but it really don’t give me a pure excitement as much as a motorcycle would…

I prefer a sports bike instead of a moped because mopeds are treated with no respect in the road (agreed?)…

can you guys tell me which motorcycle is sutiable for me (5″4)?

ushogbob answers:

SV 650 Suzuki.

You would be better off posting this question in the Transport and motorcycle section, as it is not a racing question.

You will get more replay’s that way I’m sure.

I highly suggest you take down its serial or vin number and talk to the ministry of transportation bec it could be stolen etc. He should go to ministry and get another ownership for it before selling it to you. No you cant drive it if you do big troubles if caught.

Jenny asks…

Looking for advice from those of you whose income varies by season?

My husband is getting moved from motorcyle parts to motorcycle sales which is great for the higher earning potential, but I also understand the earning is very high in the summer, and very low in the winter. I don’t want to make the mistake of not saving enough to get through the winter.

What percentage of his summer income should we tuck away into savings to get us comfortably through the winter?

I know this will be easy to calculate after he works in sales for a full year, but right now we just have to make our best guess.

ushogbob answers:

You can’t make a ‘best guess’ without knowing, but you can make a conservative estimate.

Put 50% of your summer money away to live on during the winter. I know that sounds like a lot, but next year, you’ll have a better idea of what you’ll need to save.

Robert asks…

Is it possible to build a motorcycle from the parts off a 4 wheeler.?

I found a old 1983 Suzuki GS1100es frame and I know I’ll never be able to restore it too original. so me and my mom were talking about it and she had a good Idea. I have a old fourwheeler that broke and most of everything on it is still good. So would it be possible to take the stuff off of my fourwheeler and build a Custom motorcycle with it? I know Id be looking at a few changes and stuff but heck I’m willing to try it. I think I’m going to find me a suzuki GS1100es for sale thats running and good though cause it looks like a really cool bike (Just saying). So what do you think of this idea? should I try it/. I’m 13. and want something to do I just finished restoring a 72 vw beetle

ushogbob answers:

Tucker – you seem too smart (judging from your 13 year old typing skills) to ask such a silly question.
So you are either a Tiny Troll or not thinking about the answers to such a question.

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

Laura asks…

is it safe for teenagers to ride motorbikes?

ushogbob answers:

Motorcycles have a much higher risk of accident period. We are the smallest ones on the road, and not caged for protection. The question here should be – Is the teenager in question, mature enough, and a responsible enough (and safe) rider? Some can handle it, some cant. Some go out with a bang….some are still riding today.

Donald asks…

Do I deserve to be called a bad woman driver?

I’ve had a full licence for 18 years, drive up to 7.5 tonne, ride motorbikes, transport teenagers in mini busses, have driven abroad, not had any accidents or caused any, am considerate on the road, still drive as I was taught and have had no points. I’e driven for a living for the last 16 years and used to teach people how to ride motorbikes.

ushogbob answers:

Don’t quite get ya – are you saying that someone has called you a bad woman driver? Or are you asking if your track record would suggest that you are?

You don’t sound like a bad driver!

Chris asks…

What oil should i use in off road motorbikes?

I am starting to buy biked from people in the woods near me (im only a teenager), doing them up a bit, and selling them on for a small profit but not sure what oil to use in them. Is it different for each bike because i know someone that can get me a lot of 10w40 oil for free from a garage he works at? thanks

ushogbob answers:

You should use motor cycle oil, there are additives in it for the gear box that you will not find in conventianal motor oil. As far as weight use what is reccommended for the particular bike

Susan asks…

what is a good girl motorbike for a teenager?

good motorbike for just cruising around dirt tracks
For a girl just cruising around on dirt tracks

ushogbob answers:

Honda cr80 or XL100

Sandra asks…

Why are Teenagers killing Adults in London?

There are so many incidents every week. Even in South Africa with its so called high crime rate, this didnt happen. I was never a victim of harassment and assault in RSA, Holland or Japan, only in London, England. I am lucky to be alive, when I tried to resist knife attacks by hoodies, who demanded, and when I refused, damaged my motorbikes and harassed my family, I was threatened with arrest for taking the law into my own hands. But the Police cant stop this behaviour, even recently a 19 year old murderer didnt even get a jail sentence!
These are mostly White teenagers killing Adults and Black kids killing each other!

ushogbob answers:

The law is too soft on teenagers. They need to get locked up just like adults when they commit violent crimes. Murder should be punishable by the death penalty. It sounds like England needs to get a lot tougher on crime.

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

Paul asks…

what should i wear to a harley davidson interview? ( for the apparel store not the cycle store)….?

I’m a female and I have facial piercings and also tattoos on my body, I also have knuckle tats so I can’t hide them. I’m wondering though if rocking out maybe one lip ring and dressing semi dressy/ punk will be advantageous to me, or if it will hurt my appearance. One of the points in her email to me was that you have to be able to relate with a broad customer base and letting the hardcore show a little might help me here… What do you think? Should I hide all piercings and dress like it’s an interview for any other store and do dress pants and a button down?
TO BIKERCHICK:
This is a question to find out what would be appropriate to wear to the interview. You do not have to attack my personal style. I didn’t say that “punk” has anything to do with Harley Davidson. I was simply asking the world if the look is acceptable for the part or not, NOT if punk defines Harley, chill out.

ushogbob answers:

I can’t imagine the apparel you described wearing first would offend or turn away harley davidson customers.

Sandy asks…

who makes Harley Davidson’s leather jackets?

Trying to find the OEM for Harley leather apparel

ushogbob answers:

Last time i went to a Harley dealer to look at leather, every glove and Jacket i picked up was made in china! I think that was really sad. And the sign above them said All American Gear. So i just left.

Robert asks…

Where to look for inexpensive Harley apparel/accessories?

My boyfriend just bought a Harley-Davidson Sportster and we have been riding a lot lately, but we need some more Harley clothing and other things. We went to a HD shop to look but t-shirts run from 25 bucks on up to 60! I am unwilling to spend that much for one t-shirt! Does anyone know where to find Harley stuff at a better price? I’ve already looked at Amazon.com and have found a few things but not enough.
You can’t purchase anything from the Harley-Davidson website, it tells you to go to a HD dealer. I’ve been there, done that.

ushogbob answers:

E-bay is also an alternative. Go to dealership try different apparel on for size then bid away when you see what you want.

Maria asks…

It really doesn’t look vintage, just cut up. Try visiting your local Harley shop or try asking a local biker.

Mary asks…

Does anyone know if they still make Harley Davidson snow globes, the kind with sound and motion?

The globes in particular had touch sensitive activation and featured various harleys from different years, with riders wearing date appropriate apparel.

ushogbob answers:

They couldn’t find a way to keep the water from leaking out, and the neighbors complained about the loud pipes and parties every night from the curio cabinet.

Your Questions About [harley Davidsons]

Linda asks…

I need help with Harley Davidson specifications.?

I am trying to help a friend with working in a Harley Davidson shop but with doctor’s limitations. I have searched the net for a little bit and don’t see what I am looking for, but sure that it is there. What I am looking for is a site that will list the weights of all the Harley parts on the bike and possibly what it requires to do certain jobs. My friend can not lift any more than fifty pounds, he can push or pull no more than sixty one pounds. He needs to present this information in a court of law.

ushogbob answers:

I doubt very much if you will find anything regarding the weights of Harley parts anywhere. About the closest thing would be to see what the shipping weights are on items arriving at the dealership,,it usually states on the package the shipping weight.

Mandy asks…

What is the best way to get top dollar for an antique Harley Davidson?

I have a one owner 1980 1200 cc FLH Harley Davidson Cycle. in mint condition. this cycle is not restored, It is all original, it has less than six thousand miles on the odometer.

My husband bought it new, and had some wonderful trips, until he had a heart attack. He never recovered enough strength to ride it again. It has been in the shed, fully insured, and carefully maintained, though not ridden. The NADA lists values For Harley Davidson motorcycles according to their condition. The top category is for fully restored cycle using all Harley parts. This one is not restored. It does not need to be, it starts right up. It has some factory installed extras.

My husband died, so the cycle has not been started since July. I assume it is still good, except it may need the battery charged.

Would really appreciate any advice.

help with craigslist?

we are trying to sell a harley davidson on craigslist, but they dont have a catagory for motorcycles. they have auto parts, and they have cars & trucks.

who would i list it under?

ushogbob answers:

Cars and trucks. People who go there are looking for a total transportation solution rather than a specific part for a specific vehicle. Those are two different mindsets. I hope my analysis helps.

? are N:W:A based poultry companies still having legal trouble getting rid of sludge.what could we do with it?

here is my space age scientist answer.knowing this is my face in the Harley Davidson and royal family Hohenzollern photographs and the Anheuser Busch / Slitzz beer & Fig Newton’s family & Company photo’s.Purina pet foods should be on the list of companies and board games i co own.for one Example Cattle were once meat eating Dinasours(Correct) and we eat these would be carnivours do we not.this is why they have the four stomachs.too prcess foods from both plant and meat protien based sources.my Purina is close too the north west Arkasas region and could boil out the Excess water and turn the chicken sludge into helpfull cattle feed mixtures.Even Milk cows are suppose to eat the well balanced meal we speak of here in this text.the other Exaple is Agriculture.any type of pultry or meat product encludedis un used blood and body parts.these could be ground dried and turned into the plant feeding protien meal fertilizers found in nature and apon market shelves (Miracle grow )is one well known name brand whom seems too mix these well.yet the only section we as Human beings and buisness have yet to add is the huge poultry proccessing plant trow away’s.we have top pay’ed scientist whom work for my pet food and horticulture companies.most are close here in the heart land.one 80.000 gallon tanker full of this by product per trip could make both companies more money’s and releave the stricked sludge dumping fines against local based moeat packing factories.i as A man will only become more wealthy serving you and the public whom watch out for nature based life forms health care.
plants are carnivors by nature.this is why indian Maze corn grew so well.the indian would bury fresh caught fish at the base of each plant.and fish have the same fats& Meat like enzymes needed in the Agriculture industry.this could be mixed to go into any brand name fetilizer and spread safely apon crops of many species.
added foot note: i only wished to use Purina chow company as the Example of which is in close proximity.this is not for hire nor an Advertizment for the companies themselves.since the pultry and fig newton companies were also mentioned in my selfs identity thus yahoo.commers would know with whom he or she are speaking via Text.
